History of Nursery Production in the South

In the early days, seedling production was mainly at federal nurseries. However, production at state nurseries increased and by 1964 the Ashe Nursery in Mississippi was the last federal nursery in the South. Currently, industry now produces over 60% of the seedling production and several private nurseries produce more than 10% of the production.
